Marketing agent Cameron Reid, of Crown Properties Redcliffe, said the four-bedroom home with pool at 171 Ashmole Rd sold for $755,000. “We put it on the market on the Thursday, had the first open home on the Saturday and had a contract within 72 hours for a little more than the asking price,” he said. Mr Reid said the big drawcard was the block size and side access. The home at 171 Ashmole Rd, Newport. “So even though this home wasn’t new and modern, it was neat and tidy and it had the side access and shed.” Mr Reid said the home sold to a young local family looking to upsize. “They’d been looking for a little while and decided to make a decision there and then at the open house to avoid missing out,” he said. The local agent said buyers appreciated the older homes on offer in Newport as they were well built, with plenty of space and on bigger blocks. “They’re happier to take on a bigger, older home and add some touches like a new kitchen or bathroom,” Mr Reid said.last_img
