J-D/F-M gymnasts have 129-129 tie with Baldwinsville

first_imgGiven all the variables and small moves that can alter scores in a gymnastics meet, what happened last Monday night between Jamesville-DeWitt/Fayetteville-Manlius and Baldwinsville was a rarity. Each side scored exactly 129 points, resulting in a tie, and the individual events reflected the close nature of the night.Where J-D/F-M did best was on uneven bars, sweeping the top three. Catherine Rizzo won with a score of 8.0, just ahead of the 7.9 from Katie Distefano and the 7.8 from Rylee Fishkin. Rachel McKean won floor exercise with an 8.7 routine and was second in the balance beam with 8.5 to the 9.2 from Maddie Brooks. McKean also took second in the all-around with 32.6 to Brooks’ 32.1.Rizzo, who also scored 8.1 on the beam, was third all-around with 32.3 as Rachel Wells, with an 8.3 on the vault, was second to the 8.4 from B’ville’s Lauren Addario. Zoe Potamianos had an 8.6 floor routine to tie for second with Addario and Lauren McIlroy.Back in action Friday to face Whitesboro, J-D/F-M again found itself in a close meet and improved its team total, but still lost, 140-137, to the Warriors. Fishkin, on her way to an all-around score of 34.07, tied for first on the floor with 9.0 and also scored 9.0 on uneven bars, while McKean had a 9.3 on the beam and an 8.8 on the floor on her way to an all-around total of 34.05.Potamianos had an 8.5 on the floor and 8.4 on the vault, while Wells scored 8.3on the vault. Whitesboro’s Kiara Khiamdavanh scored 9.6 on the beam, 9.3 on uneven bars to match teammate Taylor Bushey and 9.0 on the floor on her way to finish at 36.1 overall.East Syracuse Minoa/Liverpool met Central Square Thursday night, and it was nearly as close as what J-D/F-M had against B’ville, only the Spartans lost, 128-125, to the Redhawks.Share this:FacebookTwitterLinkedInRedditComment on this Story center_img Tags: ESMgymnasticsJ-D/F-Mlast_img
