first_imgEddie W. Chism, 71, died on March 23, 2016 at the Kansas Veterans’ Home in Winfield.Graveside Services will be held Monday, March 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington. Visitation will be held at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Wellington from 9-11 a.m. prior to services Monday. A memorial has been established in Eddie’s name with River Cross Hospice. Contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.Edward Walter Chism was born in San Francisco, Calif. on February 7, 1945. He was raised by proud parents of James Brown and Lillian (Deal) Brown. Eddie attended Wellington High School and after graduation he took classes at Southwestern College in Winfield. From 1967-1968, Eddie served his country with honor in the United States Army. On January 19, 1970 Eddie married the most cherished person in his life, Carolyn (Kenny). Eddie was a hard worker and enjoyed his career with the Santa Fe Railroad. When he wasn’t working he loved to fish and spend quality time with family, especially his grandkids.Survivors include: his loving wife, Carolyn (Kenny) Chism of the home; son, Kenston Chism and wife, Tonya of Urbana, Illi.; son, Jamie Chism and his wife, Michelle of Winfield; Grandchildren: Zacchary Brown and wife, Leah; Brad Brown and wife, Hope; and Jordan Chism.He is preceded in death by both of his parents.last_img
