29 Jul 2014 Emerging quartet set for German date Oliver Clarke, the Lancashire boy champion who finished third in the recent English Boys under 16 Championship for the McGregor Trophy, has been named in an emerging quartet to represent England Golf in the 54-hole RB German Junior at Heddesheim Gut Neuzenhof Golf Club, near Mannheim, on 5th – 7th August. Clarke (Formby, Lancashire, Image © Leaderboard Photography) will be joined by Toby Briggs (Dunston Hall, Norfolk), Rhys Nevin-Wharton (Sandiway, Cheshire) and Charlie Strickland (Ham Manor, Sussex). It will be 16-year-old Clarke’s maiden overseas assignment with England Golf in a stroke play event although he was capped at under 16 level earlier this year in the international with Spain in Madrid. Briggs, 14, also made his international debut for England under 16s in Madrid. The son of the Director of Golf at Dunston Hall, he has played for the Norfolk first team this year in the Anglian League, is the current Norfolk under 14 champion and finished seventh in this year’s Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters. Nevin-Wharton, 16, finished fourth in this year’s Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters, tied third in the Northern Counties Boys Qualifying and equal fifth in the Cheshire Stroke Play Championship. He also played all four rounds of this year’s Carris Trophy. Strickland, 15, a member of the Sussex junior team, finished runner-up in the Sussex County Championship and sixth in the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters.
