first_imgDONEGAL is being lashed with more sleet and hail storms tonight – with damaging gales and winds of up to 135 km/hr due to hit the county later. That’s stronger than the winds which hit the county after ex-Hurricane Katia landed earlier this year.Met Eireann issued a strong gale weather warning, with “significant accumulations of snow” due at the weekend. “Wet and extremely windy weather will develop later in the night,” said the forecaster. “Strong to gale force southwest winds are expected, with gusts in excess of 90 to 110 km/h before dawn, strongest in the North and Northwest. Lowest temperatures early in the night at 1 to 5.”But it gets worse tomorrow with Met Eireann saying: “It will be extremely windy tomorrow Thursday with stormy conditions in the North. Gale force Westerly winds will gust 100 to 135 km/hr strongest along the North coast with the winds then moderating during the afternoon and evening. It will turn much colder later.”Earlier the BBC predicted that cold air tomorrow night would see a serious snowfall. Met Eireann says that more serious snow will arrive on Saturday night predicting “significant accumulations.”© 2011 donegaldaily.com, all Rights Reserved The copying, republication or redistribution of donegaldaily.com Content, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited by law. Follow us on www.twitter.com/donegaldailyFollow us on www.facebook.com/donegaldailySell anything on www.donegaldailyclassifieds.com  IT’S ONE HAIL OF A NIGHT – FREEZING GALES BEFORE THE SNOW was last modified: December 7th, 2011 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:donegal weatherdonegaldailyex-hurricanehailhurricane katiasnowlast_img
