Maritime Museum Launches 2007 Tall Ships Online IdentiShip Kit

Thousands of photographs will be taken during the 2007 Tall Ships Festival, leaving many people scrambling to identify all those ships after their pictures are downloaded and film is developed. But fans of the Tall Ships should not despair. The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is coming to the rescue with the 2007 Identi-Ship Kit, a simple three-step process that will help identify all the registered Tall Ships. The Identi-Ship Kit was originally developed following the 1984 Parade of Sail. Flooded with requests to aid in the identification of various ships in stacks of photos, museum staff developed the online guide, which was revised for the Tall Ships Festivals in 2000, 2004 and now 2007. Using the number of masts, hull colour and type of rig, the Identi-Ship Kit quickly sorts out the many vessels and provides details about each ship. The kit is available now on the museum’s website at http://maritime.museum.gov.ns.ca .
