As part of government’s commitment to put kids and learning first, Premier Darrell Dexter today, Feb. 21, announced the appointment of Frank Dunn as associate deputy minister of Education. Mr. Dunn has an MBA from Dalhousie University, is a certified management accountant, a certified internal auditor, and has worked for the province for 28 years. Mr. Dunn has held a number of senior management positions with the province at Finance, Treasury Board, and is currently the chief operations officer at Education. “Kids and Learning First is about improving results by focusing on the needs of students,” said Premier Dexter. “Frank brings the leadership, experience, and steady hand needed to support the province’s new plan for improving education.” Earlier this month the province released Kids and Learning First, a plan to help every student succeed. The multi-year plan includes a new investment of $6.7 million and new actions focused on putting students first, effective teaching and better linking the school and community. The appointment of Mr. Dunn is part of a larger department realignment aimed to make better use of existing resources.
