Rep Iden Government transparency key to states future

first_img01Feb Rep. Iden: Government transparency key to state’s future State Rep. Brandt Iden joins his fellow House colleagues in announcing an 11-bill bipartisan package to expand transparency throughout State government.“State government works for the people, not the other way around,” Iden says. “We must be open and accountable to the individuals and families who entrust us with this great responsibility to represent the citizens of our great state.”The legislation makes the all of executive branch subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and establishes a Legislative Open Records Act (LORA) to create a records disclosure system for the House and Senate. The LORA bill exempts specific documentation, such as records involved open investigations and private human resources information. The bills are similar to a legislative effort that Rep. Iden supported in 2016, but did not reach the governor’s desk for approval.“I have heard from citizens throughout my district on the need for further government transparency and this legislation is an excellent start,” Iden said.
