Jones-Pearce was allegedly killed by his mother’s boyfriend, 27-year old Christopher Cornelius Pearson.“Nobody really wants to bury their child that young,” Jones said. “He didn’t get to live a full life.”Jones though their time together was just beginning.“He just turned one this year,” Jones.During the time of the infant’s death, the child was in the care of Pearson, who was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with the baby’s murder. Pearson initially told detectives the child drowned, but preliminary autopsy reports indicate that water did not play a part. Instead, the reports assert that Jones-Pearce died from trauma to his small body. Jones says that he is thankful that the truth about his son’s death came out.“I really do want to thank the homicide division for serving me some justice for my son because it was unfortunate and very sad to lose a child that young,” Jones said. “I loved him dearly.”Jones will remember the time he spent with his son fondly.“He was a very energetic baby,” Jones said. “He was always happy. He would get fussy sometimes, but only when he was hungry and he did like to eat a lot. When I would come in he was always shaking. I know nothing is going to bring my son back, but I have to put the trust in the lord that he is somewhere safe now.”last_img
